After several years as a nurse, I made a deliberate switch to cloud engineering. Nursing taught me to stay calm under pressure, take ownership, and never guess when you can verify. Those habits transfer directly to running production infrastructure.
Today I run two production systems on AWS. The first is this site: a Flask application on EC2 behind Nginx, originally provisioned with CloudFormation in a custom VPC, later migrated across regions and re-architected to cut its running cost by 83%. The second is fully serverless: an image-analysis pipeline built on Lambda, Step Functions, Rekognition, and DynamoDB, defined entirely in Terraform and deployed through a GitHub Actions pipeline that stores no AWS credentials.
I hold three AWS certifications, but most of what I know comes from operating these systems for real: debugging IAM policies, tuning costs, setting rate limits and budget circuit breakers, and documenting what broke and why. I'm currently expanding my skills into AI and Kubernetes.
What makes me different is a background that taught me to manage complexity and take responsibility when it matters. That translates directly into how I build and run cloud systems.
Outside of tech, I recharge by being in nature and trekking, practicing yoga, and pursuing my dream of creating a permaculture farm. These passions keep me grounded and inspire balance in how I work and live.
